Pastor Ramsey Ledford's Testimony

I would like to take a moment to share with you my testimony of how Jesus Christ changed my life.

My dad was murdered when I was 21 years old. The year was 1993, just three months before Kristy and I were to be married. I was filled with bitterness and resentment toward the person who killed my dad and had grown to be even an angrier person than I already was. Within a year after my dad's death I was married and had a newborn baby boy.

My wife's family had decided to go to Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Stockton one sunday morning and it was there that I heard the gospel preached for the first time. We continued to attend and even went to a Bible Study with the pastor and my wife's family. It was during a Bible Study session when I heard the scripture that will always hold a place in my heart. John 8:44 "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

This was the verse that God chose to reveal to me my need for salvation. To hear God's Word proclaim that I had a relationship with the devil and that I was his child and not God's brought me to my knees. After asking the Lord to forgive me of my sins and to save me, God replaced the bitterness I once felt with His peace. I then followed the Lord in scriptural baptism and church membership. I later became a Sunday School teacher, was ordained as a Deacon and then after much conviction and rebellion, on my part, I surrendered to the call to preach the Gospel in September of 1998.

In November 2002, First Missionary Baptist Church of Valley Springs, asked me to preach in view of a call and then extended the call to serve as pastor. After much prayer, I answered the call and was then ordained on December 7, 2002.

My family and I now serve the Lord through His church here in Valley Springs. I praise the Lord for His goodness, long-suffering and mercy towards me and I pray that if you have never asked the Lord to save you, that this testimony can be a witness to you and that you too would see your need for Jesus today!
